How to start trading
Five steps from zero to placing your first order.
1. Sign in
Click Sign In in the top-right of the page. You can sign in with email, a passkey, or by connecting a wallet you already own. If you sign in with email or passkey, 4rho creates an embedded Polygon wallet for you automatically — see Embedded wallet vs your own wallet for the trade-offs.
2. Add money
Open the wallet menu (top-right after signing in) and tap Add money. You can buy USDC with a card or bank transfer through Coinbase, or send USDC to your address from any other Polygon wallet. There's no 4rho fee on funding — only the standard payment-rail fee Coinbase charges.
You only need a few dollars to start. Most orders cost less than a cent in network fees on Polygon.
3. Find a market
Browse markets from the home page or the sports/categories nav. Markets group under events — for example, an NBA game has a market for each side, and a soccer match has three (Home, Draw, Away). See Sports categories and how soccer works for details.
4. Place an order
Open a market, choose YES or NO, enter your stake, and review the order. The trading panel shows:
- The price (between $0 and $1) — this is the market's implied probability of your side winning.
- The fees you'll pay if your order matches as a taker (see Fees below).
- The maximum payout if your side wins.
Sign the order. The signature happens in your wallet — 4rho never sees your private key.
| Role | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Maker | 0% | You posted a resting order someone else accepted. |
| Taker | 0.5% | You accepted an existing resting order. |
Some accounts and markets have negotiated rates; your effective rate is shown when you place an order.
5. Watch it resolve
Until the market resolves, you can sell your position back to the order book at any time to lock in profit or cut losses. After the market resolves, a Claim button appears next to winning positions on your Portfolio page. Click it to redeem your tokens for USDC.
Resolution itself is timelocked for safety — see How resolution works.
Common stumbles
- Insufficient gas? You need a small amount of POL (the Polygon native token) to pay for transactions. See Insufficient gas.
- Don't see your position? Blockchain reads can take a moment after signing. Refresh after ~10 seconds — see I don't see my position.
- Market shows "RFQ"? That market has no liquidity right now. See What "RFQ" means.
