Reading your balance
The Portfolio page shows several balance numbers. Here's what each one means.
Total balance
The headline number on the mobile hero card and at the top of the portfolio page. It is the sum of:
- USDC held directly by your wallet, plus
- USDC currently locked in open BUY orders or in active positions on the Exchange contract.
This is the dollar amount that's "yours" — but not all of it is free to spend right this second. See the breakdown below.
In wallet
USDC sitting in your address that you can move at any time — sending, cashing out, or placing a new order. Same number a block explorer would show for the USDC contract.
On exchange (escrow)
USDC the Exchange contract is holding for you. This includes:
- Funds from positions you've already opened (you'll get back $1 per share on winning sides at resolution, $0 per share otherwise).
- Funds locked by open BUY orders that haven't filled yet.
This is still your USDC — it's escrowed by a smart contract, not held by 4rho. You can move it back to your wallet by cancelling the order (if it's an open-order escrow) or by waiting for resolution and claiming (if it's tied to a position).
In open orders
Funds reserved by open BUY orders that haven't filled. If you cancel the order, the funds return to your free balance immediately. If the order fills, the funds become a position.
Bonus credits
If you have an active promotion — signup bonus, promo code, referral bonus — the credit balance shows separately. Bonus credits are real USDC moved into your account, but they are locked from withdrawal until you trade them through. See Rollover and withdrawal locks.
Why does the total differ from my wallet UI?
If you check your wallet balance in MetaMask or Polygonscan, you'll see the In wallet number, not the Total. That's because the On exchange portion lives in the Exchange contract — not in your address — but is still owed to you. 4rho's portfolio page sums both so you see the full picture in one place.
